Gov. Greg Abbott last week vetoed part of the state budget, making good on his promise to not fund the salaries of legislators – and their staffs – after Democrats walked out of the last legislative session, ensuring that two of his priority bills didn’t pass.
On Friday, Texas Democrats sued. Led by Rep. Chris Turner, chair of the Democratic Caucus, the House Democratic Caucus, Texas AFL-CIO, several members of the Texas Legislature, and several caucuses filed a writ of mandamus with the Texas Supreme Court.
