O'Rourke Suspends Daily Campaign Tuesday To Treat Bacterial Infection

[#TexasPolitics365]

A spokesperson for Democrat candidate for governor Beto O'Rourke told Reuters that doctors diagnosed him with a bacterial infection, causing him to suspend his  campaign for the day.

O'Rourke tweeted early Tuesday:
"After feeling ill on Friday, I went to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection.

The extraordinary team there — from custodians to nurses and doctors — gave me excellent care and attention, including IV antibiotics and rest."

The Reuters wire service felt it necessary to do a " fact check" to debunk rumors online that the Democrat nominee actually had monkeypox.

Both Congressional Candidates Face Challenges In South Texas Race

[#TexasPolitics365]

In Texas’ most competitive congressional race this November, conventional wisdom would suggest that the candidates make their way toward the middle.

Democrats face the  challenge of running a far left candidate, Michelle Vallejoin the newly drawn South Texas district that would have voted for former President Donald Trump by 2.8 percentage points in 2020, and massive infusions of cash from national Republicans hoping to tap into the area’s economic concerns amid record inflation. Meanwhile, Republicans will be pitching a conservative Hispanic Republican woman, Monica De La Cruzin a Hispanic-majority region that has delivered Democrats victories for decades.

Democrat Garza Vows To Disband "Wasteful" Election Integrity Unit Created By Paxton

[#TexasPolitics365]

Rochelle Garza, did Democrat candidate for attorney general has vowed to disband and replace Ken Paxton's election integrity unit, which she calls "wasteful."

Paxton, like other Republicans in the state, assert that it is important to pursue election fraud, while Democrats discount it, saying that election fraud is rare in Texas, and portray Republicans as using the issue to push legislation that makes it harder for minorities to vote.

In a tweet posted yesterday, Garza said:

"As your Attorney General, I will replace Ken Paxton's wasteful "election integrity unit" and I will make sure voting rights are protected so that EVERYONE'S vote counts."

In launching the election integrity unit just before last year's local elections, Paxton called it a "concentrated effort to devote agency lawyers, investigators, support staff, and resources to ensuring this local election season is run transparently and securely."
