Democratic Party Chair Attacks Cruz, Cornyn Over Burn Pit Bill Failure

[#TexasPolitics365]

Gilberto Hinojosa, the chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, attacked Republican senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn for voting against the "Honoring Our PACT Act," which failed in a vote Friday night, but Cruz fired back that the bill, which was meant to compensate veterans who had been injured in burn pits, had been larded up with unrelated pork spending by Senate Democrats.
“There are few political moves that are as heinous, as egregious, as rage-inducing, as using servicemembers or veterans as political pawns. But that’s exactly what Senators Cruz and Cornyn did last night," wrote Hinojosa in a press release posted on the state party website.
“Ted Cruz and John Cornyn – the former of whom had time today to tweet memes, Fox News clips, and promote his podcast; the latter of whom had time to tweet or retweet dozens of unrelated posts since the vote – should immediately explain this shamelessly partisan vote to the hundreds of thousands of Texas veterans demanding answers."
For his part, senator Ted Cruz posted immediately after the vote, explaining that the $600 billion Senate bill had been settled with $400 billion in additional pork by Democrats, which Cruz characterized on Twitter as "a blank check.," and he felt he had to vote against it for that reason.

Texas House Report Blames Uvalde Police, State Agencies For Slow Uvalse Follow-Up During School Shooting

[#TexasPolitics365]

Nearly 400 local, state and federal law enforcement officers were at the scene on May 24, including 91 state troopers, the Texas House investigative report said, and none took initiative to lead the response. The school district police chief, Pedro “Pete” Arredondo, wrote its active shooter response plan and assigned himself as incident commander, but did not follow the protocol he had set up, the report said.

The report, however, cast a broader net of blame at “the entirety of law enforcement ... on that tragic day.” Nineteen students and two teachers died in the attack the 18-year-old gunman, who was killed when police broke into a classroom after a long delay.

Gilberto Hinojosa Reelected to Lead Texas Democrats

[#TexasPolitics365]

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa has  fended off two challengers to win another term at the party's statewide convention this weekend in Dallas.

Hinojosa, who became party chair in 2012, was among those who were the target of Democratic frustration over the party’s lack of gains in Texas in the 2020 election.
The convention closed early due to a lack of a quorum, which prevented the convention voting on a party platform for the 2022 election.

Texas GOP Chai Ridicules Democrats For Convention Quorum Issue

[#TexasPolitics365]

Texas State Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi went after the Democratic Party yesterday after Democrats were forced to adjourn their State convention this weekend in Dallas for a lack of a quorum.

According to the state party' s official Twitter feed, Rinaldi said, “Texas Democrats showed this weekend what happens when you take away tens of millions of dollars from California, New York, and D.C. All that remains is a low enthusiasm, fringe party of political extremists who can’t even run a meeting, let alone a state. "

Speaking of the Democratic Party's convention, Rinaldi continued, "The showing was so dismal that Democrats couldn’t even maintain enough attendance to complete the primary business of a party convention—passing a Platform. The Texas Democrat Platform will now be written behind closed doors by party bosses."

The Texas Democrat Convention adjourned due to a lack of quorum and failed to pass a party platform.

Energy expert Jonathan Lesser warned that the power crisis in Texas underscores the broader problems with green energy, in an interview Tuesday with Fox News Digital.
Lesser — an adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute who has more than 30 years of energy industry experience — argued that, because of renewable energy sources' intermittent quality and the lack of reliable utility-scale battery storage infrastructure, forcing a green transition will lead to more power outages.

Voter Fraud Allegations In Texas Most Sparsely Populated County

[#TexasPolitics365]

Eleven people are registered to vote at one address in Loving County. One of them is Loving County Commissioner Ysidro Renteria, who has been in office since 2011 and listed this property in December as his permanent address on his application to run for re-election, signed under oath. He and at least three relatives used the address to vote in the March primaries.

The secret? "No one lives there,” says Loving County Sheriff Chris Busse, who's also the voter registrar for the county, which is the least populated county in the United States, with an estimated 54 residents, despite voter rolls that show 97 voters are registered in the oil-rich county.
