George P. Bush Looks To Make Alliances To Beat AG Paxton

[#TexasPolitics365]

After a bruising primary, George P. Bush is looking to mend some fences and make up ground on the incumbent attorney general.

And he has less than 90 days to do it all.

“The basic math is this, that if we get a preponderance of Louis [Gohmert] supporters and Eva [Guzman] supporters and bring our people back out to the polls, we win this thing,” Bush said on Inside Texas Politics. “Close to 60% of Republicans chose to go on a different path when they saw the incumbent on that ballot.”

AG Candidate Bush Warns GOP Voters: Don't Nominate "Indicted Felon" Paxton

[#TexasPolitics365]

Attorney General candidate George P. Bush, says AG Ken Paxton's an "indicted felon" who will lose against a Democrat if he's the Republican nominee.

Bush made the comments in Round Rock, during a Meet and Greet as part of his statewide "Texas First" tour. Nearly 60 people gathered at the Alcove Cantina to hear his remarks.

In addition to calling Paxton an "indicted felon," Bush said the AG's office "has run amok under Ken Paxton s watch. Ken Paxton will lose this race if he's the nominee."

Bush said he would "take the fight to liberal District Attorneys" like those in Austin and Houston, and pursue a Texas First policy, which includes finishing the border wall

AG Ken Paxton has been indicted, and is under investigation, but not convicted of any crime. He is leading in the polls against Bush, Judge Eva Guzman, and Rep. Louis Gohmert.

Gohmert Says Paxton Lied To Trump To Get Endorsement

[#TexasPolitics365]

Conservative Congressman Louie Gohmert says he called Donald Trump last summer when he heard the former President was thinking about endorsing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

“I suggested that he hold up. I said, ‘I’m even thinking about it if there’s not a better alternative’,” said U.S. Rep. Gohmert.

After the former President endorsed Paxton last July, Gohmert said he didn’t contact Mr. Trump again. But Trump called him.

“He called me and he said, ‘I was told that you were definitely not running before I endorsed.’ Well, I didn’t tell him that. So, it became clear it took a lie, a lie to President Trump that Gohmert’s definitely not running in order to get the endorsement and further re-enforces this Attorney General will do anything and say anything to get what he wants."

#Texas #GOP Congressman's Lawsuit Against VP Pence Tossed

[#TexasPolitics365]

Politico reports that a lawsuit aimed at empowering Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election has been thrown out by a federal judge.

The judge contended that the plaintiffs - Republican Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert of Tyler, along with 11 Arizona Republicans who would have been electors for Donald Trump - lacked standing to sue.

U.S. District Court Judge Jeremy Kernodle, a Trump appointee based in Tyler, said the suit, which was filed against Pence, couldn’t be brought by an individual member of Congress, since it alleged an injury that would apply to the entire House and Senate.

The Electoral Count Act of 1887 requires Pence to introduce electors alphabetically by state, and it sets out a process for House members and senators to challenge disputed electors.

On Thursday, Pence asked the judge to intervene and throw out the case. Pence and Justice Department lawyers argued in a filing with the court that Gohmert argument wasn't with the vice president, but with the house and the Senate.
