Texas Supreme Court Rules Against Dad Seeking To Prevent Transitioning Of Son In California

Jeffrey Younger has lost his court case to prevent his ex-wife from taking their son to California, where he could be medically transitioned. 

Younger has been trying to stop this from happening for years, and has now reached the end of the line. He is prevented by the courts of Texas from protecting his boys from medical mutilation at the hands of their mother, who is a pediatrician. 

Younger has accused her of using the children to help advertise her "inclusive," "gender affirming" practice.

State's High Court Allows Harris County Extended Vote Count

The Texas Supreme Court ruled yesterday that Harris County election officials can include over 2,000 votes cast during an extended voting period on Election Day in certified results, but must give the number of late-cast votes in each individual race.

In their two-page order, the nine Republican justices on the state's highest civil appeals court rejected the request from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to outright nullify the votes cast after polls traditionally close. However, the court did not dismiss Paxton's petition to have late-cast votes thrown out in future elections.

US Supreme Court Refuses Review Of GOP Redistricting

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday turned away an appeal by Black and Hispanic voters accusing the Republican-led Texas legislature of intentionally redrawing a state Senate district to diminish their political clout, part of broader challenge to congressional and state legislative maps in the state.

Fifth Circuit Reverses Block On Implementing Texas Internet Free Speech Bill

The Fifth Circuit has reversed a federal district court’s ruling that blocked implementation of HB 20, a Texas law that prevents social media networks from censoring users based upon the viewpoint of their online postings. 

The law also creates multiple requirements for the platforms to disclose to the public how they operate and requires that users be provided with an internal process to complain about censorship decisions.

Texas Supreme Court Rejects GOP Effort To Remove Libertarians From Ballots

The Texas Supreme Court has rejected a Republican effort to remove a host of Libertarian candidates from the November ballot, saying the GOP did not bring their challenge soon enough.

In a unanimous opinion, the all-GOP court did not weigh in on the merits of the challenge but said the challenge came too late in the election cycle. The Libertarian Party nominated the candidates in April, the court said, and the GOP waited until earlier this month to challenge their candidacies.

Top State Democrats Vow To Continue Fight For Abortion

Republicans Celebrate End Of Roe v Wade, Democrats Vow To Fight On

Texas Republican leaders celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade on Friday as Democrats vowed to fight back at the ballot box.

The landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision returned the issue of abortion access to the states, and due to a “trigger law” in Texas, the state will ban all abortions from the moment of fertilizations starting 30 days from the court’s issuance of a judgment, which typically comes about a month or so after the opinion.

Appeals Court Rebuffs Challenge To Heartbeat Law

A Federal appeals court panel Monday rebuffed Texas abortion clinics’ plea to send what remains of their challenge against the state’s abortion ban back to the lower court that previously blocked the law, instead directing the case to the Texas Supreme Court for further interpretation.

The move prolongs the litigation over the anti-abortion statute, which has led to a dramatic reduction in the number of abortions performed in the state since it took effect in September.

Court Reverses Lower Court's Freeze Of Abbott's Mask Mandate Ban During Appeals Process

A federal appeals court has reinstated Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s ban on school mask mandates while it weighs whether the edict violates the rights of students with disabilities.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday granted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s request to put a lower judge’s order striking down the ban on hold while it considers the state’s appeal. 

The administrative stay was granted without explanation by a three-judge panel that includes two appointees of former Pres. Donald Trump.

Federal Appeals Court Blocks Biden's Vax Mandate From Taking Effect

The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which covers Texas, sided with Texas and a number of other states on Friday, issuing a temporary order that blocked President Joe Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for businesses with over 100 employees from taking effect.

Gov. Greg Abbott hailed the "excellent news" on Twitter, saying, "Employees don't have to choose between a job and a jab."
