Perry Criticizes Psaki Over Cybersecurity Threat

[#TexasPolitics365]

Former Trump Energy Secretary and former Texas Governor Rick Perry slammed White House press secretary Jen Psaki on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday for denying a cybersecurity threat from Russia as President Vladimir Putin prepares to invade Ukraine.

Perry also argued the Biden administration is hurting their climate change agenda by creating an energy production void being filled by Russia.

"Anyone who is sitting at the White House, being the spokesperson for the president of the United States, and basically saying that there is no threat for cybersecurity needs to step away from the microphone and quit doing any more harm to America," said Perry.

West Won't Be Charged In Airport Mask Altercation

[#TexasPolitics365]

Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West will not be prosecuted over a face mask-related altercation at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, an official said.

A Grapevine Municipal Court administrator said Monday that West would not be charged in connection to a confrontation with a man who called him out for being unmasked last year, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Any altercation over not wearing a mask can only help West with Republican voters, who have been hostile to mask mandates and public mask-wearing in general, and especially hostile to those who attempt to shame those who don't choose to wear masks.

GOP Texas Senate Candidate Promises to Be A "Mini" MTG

[#TexasPolitics365]

Texas GOP candidate Bianca Gracia said she might be a "mini Marjorie Taylor Greene" if elected to office.

While greene he's painted as a divisive figure in the media, she remains very popular with the Conservative Republican base.

Gracia, who's running for district 11 in the Texas State Senate, said she would remain true to her word if she's elected.

"We have some very blind, hypocritical people in office who tell you they're going to do all these things for you and they do nothing. They go into office and they shake hands behind closed doors and they pretend to fight against each other," Gracia said, in a recent podcast. "The only one right now that's really fighting back is Marjorie Taylor Greene," she said.

Ag Commish Miller: I've Never Seen Abbott

[#TexasPolitics365]

In a recent interview with Texas Scorecard incumbent Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller sat down to discuss a wide range of issues, including his relationship with Gov. Greg Abbott. He made the audacious claim that he had never met the governor during his term in office.

“I’ve tried numerous times to get a meeting with the governor,” said Miller. “In the seven years that we’ve both been in our offices, I’ve never got a meeting with the governor, never got a phone call returned, never got an email or letter returned.”

“Well, it’s kind of like working with sasquatch,” said Miller. “Everybody knows he’s real and some people have seen him, but I’ve never seen him. I can’t get a meeting with him.”

AOC To Rally In Texas Against Democrat Rep. Cuellar

[#TexasPolitics365]

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., announced a rally in Texas to support two candidates in next month's Democratic primary.

"Texans, are you ready?" Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. "We’re coming in for a major DOUBLE-RALLY next Saturday, Feb 12th… This one’s going to be special."

The rally will support Jessica Cisneros, who is looking to unseat incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, in Texas' 28th Congressional District.

Cuellar previously bested Cisneros by four points in the 2020 primary, but now faces controversy after his home was raided by FBI agents last month.

Paxton Threatens To Investigate GoFundMe After Trucker Convoy Funds Frozen

[#TexasPolitics365]

Texas’ Attorney General threatened an investigation Saturday of GoFundMe, the crowdsourcing website, after it froze funding donated by Texans for the Canadian truckers convoy. The Nationwide protest has gridlocked the nation's capital, Ottawa, demanding an end to vaccine mandates.

“Patriotic Texans donated to Canadian truckers’ worthy cause using GoFundMe,” Attorney General Ken Paxton wrote on Twitter. “This BLM-backing company went woke, froze the funds, & failed to deliver Texans’ money. Today, I assembled a team to investigate their potential fraud & deception. Texas donors will get Justice!”

After further threats from other states, GoFundMe relented, refunding all donations.

Like Paxton, other critics pointed out that other groups are still allowed on GoFundMe’s site, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, which was linked to a string of violent riots in cities around the country in 2020.

“If only the truckers looted and burned down businesses in Ottawa, rather than lawfully protest a draconian mandate,” said Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas. “Then [GoFundMe] would have no problem with people sending them donations.”

Five voting rights groups have filed a lawsuit in a U.S. district court asking for Texas’ Secretary of State to release documents about a state program they claim “threatens to remove naturalized citizens from the voter rolls.”

In August, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office said Secretary John Scott had started a search to identify non-citizens on voter rolls and soon “found thousands of registrants for potential removal under this program,” the groups said in a joint press release Tuesday.
