Only 41% said they wanted O'Rourke, a former Democratic Party Senate candidate and former presidential candidate, to run against incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott in next year's election.

Forty-one percent also said they favored "Fazed and Confused" actor Matthew McConaughey running for governor. It's unclear whether he will run as a Republican or Democrat if he becomes a candidate.

The poll showed deep partisan divisions on his proposal to build a wall on the southern border, with the vast majority of Republicans supporting it in the vast majority of Democrats opposing it.

There was bad news for President Joe Biden in the poll, with only 29% of Texans approving his handling of the Border crisis, while 64% opposed it.
