State Rep. James Talarico (D - Round Rock) has filed a bill to cancel school lunch debt. "In the richest country in the world, children are accumulating debt," he said. "We are shaming kids because they can’t afford their school lunch. I’ve filed legislation to cancel all student lunch debt in Texas."
His bill, HB 4112, would use state funds to pay off all lunch debt owed by the state's grade schoolers.
